A SAW is a student activity workbook designed to allow students to independently complete core and elective coursework. SAWs contain background information, lessons, activities, formative assessments, performance tasks and reviews and may have assigned texts and supplemental resources. The goal of the SAW is to allow students to learn the content independently through reading and age-appropriate pedagogical practice. Students then review the SAW with a teacher before completing a Unit Summative Assessment via the Online Assessment Platform. Each semester of a course is composed of 5 SAWs equivalent to 5 units. All SAWs are aligned to state standards.
