End-of-Year Closeout Guide

The curriculum team will be republishing new versions of all Edmentum courses for the start of next school year. This will ensure any bug fixes or updates get pushed out to all of our students. It will also clean up teacher interfaces. Students who have finished or decided not to start courses will be removed from the active classroom view.

What does it mean for my students?

Students will need to finish the unit they are working on in Edmentum no later than June 11th.

On June 11th at midnight we will be deactivating all course sections to make way for newly published versions, but don’t worry, teachers will still be able to check the previous year’s student data by toggling between active and inactive in the “Manage Courses” section.

New courses for the 2021-2022 school year will be available June 16th.

Upon returning to school in July, we’re asking that teachers create new versions of their active courses and enroll their students. If units were previously claimed in StudentTrac, students may be omitted from those units in the new version.

Thanks so much for your hard work.

FAQ

Will I need to recreate the students' accounts?

The student's account information will not be affected. Same username and same password. Only enrollments and courses will be affected.

What happens if they don't finish a unit in time?

Students can start back up where they left off, but omitting the activities they previously completed in the new course will be a lot more time consuming and tedious for teachers than omitting a whole unit.

Can students keep working while we're on break?

It's definitely not recommended by the Skyrocket team. Work may have to be backdated to claim anything completed during this time, but this decision is ultimately up to your leadership team.

A great way to ensure that students don't start work before they should is to make the start date on your course section July 1st.

Will I still have access to create student accounts?

Yes!

The capabilities of staff accounts will not change during the course close-out and republishing process. You will still be able to create student accounts, including for summer, but enrollments should wait until July 1st.

When can I start building my new 21-22 course sections?

We aim to have the all the new 21-22 courses published by June 16th. Teachers are more than welcome to build out their course sections for the following year.
