Pacing Guide

Setting student pacing to 9 weeks per semester leads to a

in time on task

compared to students with no pacing

Why this Works?

Goal setting with clearly defined due dates works to motivate.  Teachers who use the pacing feature and set reasonable timelines for the semester get students spending more time on their school work per week

Why 9 Weeks?

29% increase was for 8-13 weeks from start to end date compared to not setting any pacing.  9 weeks per semester puts students at a slightly faster than 4 year graduation rate with 3 concurrent classes open.

Extreme pacing was detrimental.  Students did worse with extremely long pacing (20 weeks of more) or very short pacing (less than 4 weeks) than if they had no pacing at all.

What it Takes?

Setting student start and end dates takes about 10 seconds, but with this feature turned on, the average student will spend 38 additional minutes per week per course on task.  Click below to see how to set student pacing.
